Llamas for fun and fiber Firethorn Farm is nestled on 180 acres of meadows, woodland and pasture in the beautiful rolling hills of Southwestern Pennsylvania. We purchased our first llamas in 1985 and have been marveling at these magical, mystical beasts of burden ever since. We breed llamas with sound minds and sound bodies, a llama that’s fun to own. Our llamas pack and pull carts. They provide fiber for spinning and weaving. They guard our sheep and goats. Our llamas are our companions and friends. We pride ourselves on raising healthy, happy llamas using plenty of green grass, sunshine, fresh air and love. We have eleven pastures and use a rotational grazing system. Our llamas drink pure, sparkling spring water, gravity fed to their pastures. We grow our own hay so we know exactly what our llamas are eating. Our health records are computerized and our veterinary care is provided by two excellent veterinarians. Our maintenance program includes routine worming, vaccinations and weights on every animal. Every llama birth here is a blessed event. All of the llamas gather round and admire the new baby as it is imprinted. Then the baby totters off with its mom and begins the serious work of growing up. We practice low stress-no stress management. That means the baby will grow and mature in a stable environment, within its extended family. Our girls are content, they know the routine and know what to expect each day. When the babies are weaned, we work with them on a regular basis. We teach them to stand to be groomed and pick up their feet. They learn to walk on a lead and load in a trailer. All of our llamas are ILR registered and our breeding males are blood typed. Every llama we sell comes with a new halter and lead, feed, mineral mix, health records, baby and family photos, a notebook full of llama information, a book about llamas and peace of mind! The peace of mind comes from knowing that you have now joined our family and have our unending support. We stand behind our llamas and will always be available to you. Call us and come for a visit to meet our llamas and experience the peace and harmony of our herd. Sit and listen to the soft humming and quiet munching. Take one of our gentle geldings for a llama walk on the trails winding through our farm. Feel the warm llama breath on your cheek, look into those beautiful eyes and fall in love. You owe it to yourself to visit Firethorn Farm and experience life as it should be. |
