At Windy Knoll, we feel there are several key factors that are a must for a successful breeding program.
The first factor is high quality breeding stock. Since we do not have the acreage for quantity, we feel that premium breeding stock is imperative for quality offspring. Our current herd of six breeding females has been selected from farms across the country and carry distinct bloodlines known for correct structure and quality fiber.
The second factor is actually a combination of adequate housing and a clean environment. Pictured below is a photo of our "state of the art" llama barn. The facility is equipped with fans for cooling in the summer and it can be completely enclosed during winter storms. We strive to keep not only our barn but also our fields as clean as possible to allow our llamas a clean and healthy environment in which to live.
The third factor followed at Windy Knoll is a balanced feeding program. We continually monitor conditioning and feed only a specially formulated llama mix to keep our breeders in top form.
The fourth and final llama factor is "tender love and care". Our llamas' health and well being is first and foremost at Windy Knoll. You will only find well treated and much loved llamas in our fields.
